NYR Rejuvenating Frankincense Facial Oil

Launched in January this year to complement the award winning Neal's Yard Organic Frankincense Skincare range.  This is set to become another best seller.  Frankincense is also known as 'the pearls of the desert', made from the drawn out sap of the Boswellia tree, the frankincense used by Neal's Yard is grown in Somalia, the wild growing trees have been tended by the same families for generations.

Frankincense is used as a key ingredient for effective rejuvenating and firming the skin and fighting the first signs of ageing.  Interestingly it was used by the ancient Egyptians for mummifying and embalming!

Why use a facial oil?

A facial oil is designed to penetrate deeper into the skin to help to stimulate collagen production, offering support and construction (firming) in the deep layers.  Apply  one drop after cleansing and toning, whilst the skin is still damp (therefore using less product).  Allow the oil to penetrate the skin for about 5 minutes before moisturising.  You will find that you need less moisturiser.

Think of the oil as your underwear (giving support) and your moisturiser as your dress!

The Verdict

The Frankincense Facial Oil is lighter than the Orange Flower and Rose Facial Oils.  It is suitable for skin that is showing signs of ageing.  It has been clinically proven to moisturise for up to 12 hours!  At only £25.50 it will last for ages as you only need one drop, you will also use less moisturiser.  It will give your skin a real boost, especially in winter and is also rich in omega- rich botanical oils with frankincense and myrrh, with a hint of mandarin oil.  I love it!

Do You Know Your Skin Type ?

How to check your skin type

Did you know that your skin changes over time?  External factors such as weather, environment and even your state of mind can affect your skin's vitality.

To check your current skin type, cleanse your face and do not apply any moisturisers or creams.  After 20 minutes, check to see which of the following characteristics best reflect your skin.

Signs of ageing
- Visible lines, increased dryness, reduced elasticity.

Normal skin
- Barely visible pores, rarely blemished, occasional dryness.

Dry skin
- No visible pores, feels tight after cleansing, matte finish.

Oily & combination skin
- Visible / enlarged pores, sheen to skin, shiny T-zone

Blemish prone skin
- Blackheads and blemishes, visible open pores, red and inflamed.

Sensitive skin
- Quick to react, affected by stress, itchy / flakey / red

Youthful skin
- No Visible fine lines, good elasticity, temporary loss of radiance.

Wild Rose Beauty Balm Award Winning Product

Product Review, Wild Rose Beauty Balm 'A Spa in a Jar'

Winner Natural Health Magazine Beauty Awards 2009
Suitable for all skin types

This has to be the most versatile skincare product in the range. The key ingredient being organic wild rosehip oil - this is a fantastic natural source of skin nourishing antioxidants, vitamins and essential fatty acids. Proven to help repair, firm and smooth the skin. An award winning product, having won an awards from The Green Beauty Bible and The Natural Health Magazine Beauty Award.

Wild Rose Beauty Balm is comparable to Elizabeth Arden' s highly successful Eight Hour Cream. The consistency is not the same, as this is a balm and not a thick liquid, it does smell a lot nicer than than Eight Hour Cream, and has more uses. A little goes a long way, so although it is £35.25 for 50g, it will last you for a long time.

It can be used as a cleanser, moisten the skin with warm water, gently massage on the balm and rinse off with warm water. My skin felt very hydrated and smooth, as you massage onto the skin, cup your hands and take a deep breath and enjoy the gorgeous aromas.

The Wild Rose Beauty Balm comes with a muslin cloth, which can bee used to exfoliate dead skin cells. As above, gently massage the balm onto moistened skin, the wipe away with the muslin cloth in a circular motion.

Wild Rose Beauty Balm can also be used to nourish the skin, especially dry areas, knees & elbows. It makes an excellent lip balm and is great for the cuticles. If you smooth it generously over your face before you go to bed, you will wake up looking refreshed, with a glowing completion.

As well as rosehip oils, the other ingredients are, geranium, star flower, hemp and rosemary seed oil, which help to decongest and enrich the skin.

If I could only choose one product from The Neal's Yard Remedies Organic range, this would have to be the the one.

Totally Addicted To Those Little Blue Bottles.....

A few weeks ago, a very good friend of mine invited me to an 'event' at her house, she's recently become an independent consultant for Neal's Yard Remedies. Well what can I say, after a few coffee's and plenty of sampling of the goods, I was totally hooked. My shopping list was rather on the large size as I was so taken by the gorgeous products on offer, we worked out it would be better value to sign up as a consultant, so always on the lookout for a bargain, I signed up! £200 worth of products (including the whole of my shopping list) for just £95.

Since my starter kit arrived in the post a week later, I've become totally addicted to these beautiful blue bottles and fantastic products fragranced with natural and pure essential oils, I'd like to spread the word about these divine products and hope that you enjoy reading my review of my favourites.
